The Daily Word of Righteousness
What Are You Groaning For?, continued
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of [deposit on] our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13,14)
In the Book of Ephesians Paul tells us we have been sealed to the Day of Redemption. The Holy Spirit we have now is as a seal, signifying that we belong to God. The seal shows we belong to God until the Day of Redemption comes, the day when our body is redeemed and we are set forth by the power of the resurrection as being a son of God.
Now we can catch the flavor of the verses from Romans 8:2 through 8:23 (in fact the whole sense of Paul's description of salvation beginning with the second chapter of Romans).
Paul tells us that if we reckon we have died on the cross with Jesus Christ we no longer are under the authority of the Law of Moses. We can lift up our eyes from the Law and look to Jesus, and in doing so we are without condemnation.
Until you reckon yourself dead with Christ and risen with Christ you still are under the Law of Moses.
Why are we without condemnation even though we are not keeping the Law of Moses? Because the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death (the interaction of the Law of Moses with our fallen nature).
How has the Spirit of Life set us free?
By forgiving our sins and ascribing to us the righteousness of Him who obeyed the Law of Moses perfectly—Jesus Christ.
By destroying the idols of worldliness, lust, and self-will from our personality as we follow the Holy Spirit and cooperate with His wisdom and power.
By creating Christ in us.
By redeeming our mortal body such that it is filled with eternal resurrection life and no longer sinful.
By filling our completely redeemed personality with the fullness of the Father and the fullness of the Son through the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
But how do we get there?
By dead reckoning! By reckoning ourselves dead with Christ and risen with Christ, and by following the Holy Spirit as He sets a straight course for us in the keeping of the commandments issued by Jesus Christ and His Apostles.
If we keep referring back to our fixed position of crucifixion and resurrection with Christ, and follow the course laid out each day by the Holy Spirit, we will continue to be without condemnation; we will obtain deliverance from worldliness, lust and the other passions of the flesh, and our self-will. Christ will be formed in us. We will live in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
When the Lord comes the Spirit now dwelling in us will make alive our physical body.
Finally we will be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now we are ready for eternal service in the Kingdom of God.
If this sounds good to you, go for it! There is no power that can prevent your attainment of the fullness of redemption except your own unbelief.
