The Daily Word of Righteousness
The Heavenly Jerusalem, #52
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. (Revelation 3:5)
In order to enter the city we must be written in the Lamb's Book of Life. If we are to remain in the Lamb's Book of Life we must be an overcomer.
To overcome is to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness until the Words of Christ are kept and performed in spite of the pressures of Satan, the spirit of the world, and our lusts and self-will. The Holy Spirit gives the wisdom and strength that enable us to overcome.
To be overcome is to yield to sin, not gaining the victory over it.
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (II Peter 2:19-21)
"They are entangled therein, and overcome."
The Kingdom of God is the "way of righteousness." It is the "holy commandment."
If we receive Christ, and then are overcome by "the pollutions of the world," we are as a dog "turned to his own vomit again" (II Peter 2:22).
The "way of righteousness" is the way of the Kingdom of God. As Christ is formed in us we are able to overcome the enemy, who continually strives to keep us from our inheritance, from the rest of God.
The Kingdom of God is like a net let down into the sea. All sorts of creatures come up when the net is drawn in. In the Day of the Lord, the angels will separate each creature into its kind. Then the righteous will shine as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.
When we receive Christ, we have the Door to the Kingdom of God. It is what we do from then on that determines whether our name will remain in the Lamb's Book of Life; and if it remains, what status and abilities we shall possess in the Kingdom of God.
Some will be saved but beaten with many stripes because they did not do their Lord's will. Not all who are saved will be kings and priests of God.
He who overcomes the obstacles placed before him will inherit all things. Best of all, God will be his God, and he will be God's son.
No person who is lusting, or lying, or stealing can enter the holy city while he still has these tendencies. It is only as the Father and the Son through the Holy Spirit enter us and dwell in us that these behaviors finally and forever are crushed and driven from our personality.
Only Christ can drive them out, setting us free from sin and filling us with the Life and Presence of the God of Heaven. This is the coming of the Kingdom of God to us, the doing of God's will in the earth as it is in Heaven.
To be continued.
