Ye Shall Receive Power, #16
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
Will Elijah and Elisha be reincarnated or descend from Heaven and then preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God before the Lord returns? Of course not. To bear witness of the coming of the Kingdom of God is the responsibility of the saints of Christ, of no one else.
The double portion of the anointing of the Spirit will be given to God's second Lampstand, the Body of Christ, as soon as the Body of Christ has been built up in the Head. The Head is the first Lampstand, the Lampstand of Zechariah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
John the Baptist was Elijah of whom Malachi spoke:
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: (Malachi 4:5)
In a spiritual sense, John was Elijah. Yet, John was John, not Elijah. Elijah was not reincarnated in John nor did Elijah come down from Heaven to prepare the way before Christ.
But the spirit of Elijah rested on John.
But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. (Matthew 17:12)
We look at people and circumstances from the earthly point of view. God looks at people and circumstances from the spiritual point of view. The Book of Revelation is God's point of view. How we view people and circumstances often is quite different from that set forth in the Book of Revelation. The human mind cannot interpret the Book of Revelation.
The end-time witnesses will not be Elijah and Elisha even though they probably are the strongest scriptural types of the two witnesses. Rather, it is true that the same Power that rested on Elijah and Elisha will abide on the Lord's remnant.
In order to announce the return to earth of His chosen King, who is the Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the earth will pour out the fullness of His Spirit on His elect, so signs and wonders of unparalleled glory and power will be revealed in support of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. The God of the whole earth never shall give His earth to Antichrist or to Antichrist's worshipers.
The Lord Jesus will anoint us and work with us, confirming the Word of the Divine testimony with signs following (Mark 16:20).
The two end-time witnesses are the two olive trees. They are the double portion of the Spirit of God, the latter rain, the source of continual anointing so the testimony of Christ may cover the earth in a short period of time.
The testimony of Christ is the Spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10).
What of the two lampstands? As we understand the symbolism, the two lampstands of Revelation, Chapter 11 are Christ, the one Lampstand; and the Body of Christ, the second Lampstand. These two are one; yet they are two.
To be continued.
