The Daily Word of Righteousness
We Christians Do Not Understand the Gospel!, #6
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:4)
When Christ comes He will bring justice to the poor and meek of the earth. The poor always have the Gospel of the Kingdom preached to them. The poor are the heirs of the Kingdom.
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? (James 2:5)
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment [with justice]. And a man shall be [or, each shall be] as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. (Isaiah 32:1,2)
The righteous, equitable rule of Christ and His saints will begin when the Lord returns.
He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment [justice] in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. (Isaiah 42:4)
The above verse is referring to the coming of Christ and the members of His Body. The Servant of the Lord, mentioned in the Book of Isaiah, is Christ—Head and Body.
When we Christians refer to "being saved" we are speaking of the condition of the individual in the Day of the Lord. The Gospel message, as preached by the Lord Jesus and John the Baptist, was, and still is, "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved. He who refuses to believe and be baptized remains under condemnation."
The great hope of the Kingdom of God is the return of the Lord Jesus with His saints to set up His Kingdom on this earth. Later there shall be a new heaven and a new earth. But these are far off in the future. The issue at hand, the glory soon to come, is the appearing of Christ with His saints and holy angels to drive all the wicked and their sin from the earth.
And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 4:3)
Perhaps we have made it clear to this point that the burden of the prophecies of the Hebrew Prophets is the coming of the Kingdom of God to the earth to establish justice and peace among the nations. This of course was the message of John the Baptist and the Lord Jesus.
The writings of the Prophets announce the coming of the Kingdom to the earth. The four Gospels present the Savior-King of the Kingdom, the Lord Jesus Christ.
