The Daily Word of Righteousness
Two Beginnings, #4
Who [the Logos, the Lord Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:15-17)
The Logos is the image of the invisible God.
The Logos was the Creator of all things in the heavens and upon the earth.
All things were created for the Logos.
The Logos was before all things.
All things consist by the Logos.
The English translation of the Greek logos is "word." However, "word" is not a comprehensive translation. Perhaps the statement "the Logos is the image of the invisible God" comes closer to what the Logos is. The Logos is infinitely more than an English "word."
Now we have in existence the Father, the Logos, who is the perfect Expression and Representation of the Father, spiritual heavens, and a number of creatures in those heavens. It is likely that the spiritual environment and creatures came into being an indescribably long period of time before the physical environment and creatures came into existence. Yet, both the spiritual and the physical are products of the first "beginning."
All of the greater and lesser spirit beings who inhabited the first spiritual creation were created in righteousness and holiness. It is important to our understanding to realize Satan and his followers were not always wicked. This fact should be a warning to all of us that self-will can change a glorious holy creature of God into a monster of depravity.
Satan, the covering cherub, was a perfect creation until it entered his heart to compete against the Father.
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (Ezekiel 28:15)
How long the Father peacefully governed all of these bright creatures that He had brought into being though His Logos we have no way of knowing or comprehending. No doubt it was a tremendous period of time, if it can be reckoned in time.
The rebellion. Then an unspeakably horrible event occurred. A highly placed cherub began to exert his self-will, no longer being content to submit to the Father.
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:13,14)
I will ascend into heaven.
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds.
I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH
Now we have the Father, the Logos, the spiritual environment, the angels, and a rebellion on the part of many angels of high rank in the heavenly hierarchy, angels that had been created by the Logos.
