That Which Is Perfect, #6
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20)
Perhaps some day, when we are residing in a glorified body, we will be able to receive an increased amount of the Divine love. Then we indeed will be dwelling in perfection. Let us press forward to that end.
When we compare the majesty of the promises of God with our own miserable, coarse personality we could become discouraged. However, God is not asking us to perfect ourselves. He has promised to save us to an extent that exceeds anything we could think or imagine. He will accomplish such transformation by the power He already has deposited in the believer.
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (Ephesians 3:21)
"Him" is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the One from whom the entire family of the elect in Heaven and on earth is named. Glory comes to the Father from the Church as Christ is formed in the Church. The glory created in the Christ-filled Church, the glory and worship that always are to be directed toward the Father, will increase in purity and power for all generations throughout the endless ages of eternity.
The Example
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)
The Lord Jesus is implying here that the royal Presence and authority of God have been transferred to Himself. The ultimate intention of God is to continue that transfer of Presence and authority until every member of the Wife of the Lamb possesses that which is perfect, that is, the fullness of the Glory of God.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)
The Father's House is the Lord Jesus Christ and only the Lord Jesus.
However, there are to be many living areas in the Father's House.
The Lord Jesus went to prepare a place for us so we too, along with Himself, will be places where the Father can find rest and expression. Christ is the chief Cornerstone. We, the saints, are to be living stones in the eternal House of God.
Where did Christ go? He went to Gethsemane and then to the cross. After that He rose from the dead and then ascended in order to sprinkle His own blood before the Mercy Seat in Heaven.
Next He poured forth the Spirit of God on all who are sprinkled with the blood of the covenant. Now He is making intercession before the Throne of God for all the saints.
Christ has done all this so a place may be prepared for us in the many-roomed House of the Father. Every member of the Body of Christ, the Body of the House of God, is a room in which the Father can find rest and from which He can govern and bless His creatures, both human and angelic. Before Christ did these things for us it was totally impossible for us to be the dwelling place of the Father.
To be continued.
