The Daily Word of Righteousness
The Second Goat, #2
Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. (Daniel 10:12,13)
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (II Corinthians 4:3,4)
We understand from the Scriptures that there is coming a day of redemption. This means that at some point in history the removal of sin, that which was portrayed by leading the scapegoat from the camp, will take place.
We submit to you that the beginning of the day of redemption, of the removal of sin from the creation, is upon us.
The present author was a Bible student in the old Assembly of God Berean Bible Institute in San Diego. The time was the late 1940s. He had just received the baptism with the Holy Spirit including speaking in tongues.
Soon after this a visiting teacher by the name of Oliver Ellenwood came to the school. As Brother Ellenwood discussed the Tabernacle of the Congregation he mentioned the feasts of the Lord (Leviticus, Chapter 23). Something rang like a bell in our heart although we had never before heard of the seven feasts.
The Lord spoke to us that the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:27), the sixth of the seven feasts, signifies judgment on the Church. We repeated this to Brother Ellenwood and he seemed interested. During the same period of time we became impressed with the warrior aspect of the Lord and went about our daily duties meditating on "the drums of El Shaddai." Where this expression (the drums of El Shaddai) came from we do not know. Today we can see the connection between the Day of Atonement and the drums of El Shaddai.
From that day to the present the Lord has unfolded and verified the awesome consequences of the spiritual application of the Day of Atonement having to do with judgment on the Church. Many years later we discovered that the Jews view the days from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) as the time when God judges the world.
Of late we have begun to perceive the majesty of the plan of God, His war against evil spirits, His eternal judgment and removal of all sin from His creation. The removal of the presence of sin will make possible the spiritual fulfillment of the seventh and last feast, the feast of Tabernacles (Leviticus 23:34). The goal is the establishing of the Kingdom of God in the hearts of every saved person so that the Father is All and in all through Christ.
To be continued.
