The Daily Word of Righteousness
The New World of Righteousness
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:2)
It is amazing there is but one street in a city of such gigantic proportions. This leads us to believe the vision of the city is, in part at least, a symbolic picture of the perfections of the Church, the Wife of the Lamb rather than merely a description of a physical city.
The street of the holy city is "pure gold, as it were transparent glass" (Revelation 21:21). No doubt this refers to the faith of the saint that has been refined in the fires of tribulation until there is not a trace of impurity left in it.
The way of God always is the way of faith.
The tree of life grows in the middle of the golden street. Those who choose to overcome the world through the faith that God gives them become in time a tree of life.
The tree of life grew in the middle of the Garden of Eden. The tree of life now grows "in the midst of the Paradise of God" (Revelation 2:7). The Tree of Life is Christ. Whoever eats of Christ, of the Tree of Life, will receive eternal Life.
Christ—the eternal Life that is in Him and that He Himself is, always is "in the midst" of God's Presence and Paradise: "the tree of life also in the midst of the garden" (Genesis 2:9); "in the midst of the Paradise of God" (Revelation 2:7); "in the midst of the street of it" (Revelation 22:2).
The Lord Jesus Christ is always in the midst of Paradise. It is His will that His Body be there with Him—that where He is, there we may be also.
When we become crucified with Christ, and Christ is our Life, we become the Tree of Life. We grow from the root of that greatest of trees. The conquering saint grows in the midst of the way of faith, on the bank of the River of Life. It will be so throughout eternity.
The tree of life yields twelve varieties of fruit. In Christ is found the answer to every human condition. Through His saints the Lord will be able to meet the need of every person on the earth.
Every month a new crop of fruit comes forth. There is no famine at any time, there always is an abundance of food.
Whosoever chooses to do God's will is given access to the tree of life. He can eat of the fruit and live forever.
The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The nations of the earth are sick today. They can be healed only by the Divine Life that is in the saints.
It appears, from Revelation 22:2, that the nations will need healing during the new heaven and earth reign of Christ. They will be healed by the Life of God that abides in the members of the Wife of the Lamb. If the nations will not need healing, why would it be stated that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations?
(Yet 21:4 proclaims that tears, death, sorrow, crying, and pain will be no more! Perhaps 21:4 will become true after the nations have been healed or as they are being healed.)
To be continued.
