The Daily Word of Righteousness
The Glory of the Lord, #4
Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. (Ezekiel 47:7)
As soon as we have pressed into the fullness of God we begin to see the "trees of righteousness" that the Lord has planted. The issuing of the Holy Spirit has brought forth sons of God in the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are trees of life. They always stand on the bank of the River of Life, on each side of it.
And he [whose delight is in the law of the Lord] shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalms 1:3)
The overcoming saints remain planted on the bank of the River of Life because their life comes from the Divine water.
Are you living on the bank of the River of Life? You can, if this is what you desire above all else.
We are being filled with the fullness of God so that through us the Holy Spirit may flow forth for the healing of the nations. This is one of the principal roles of the new Jerusalem in the Kingdom of God.
Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. (Ezekiel 47:8)
First the waters of incorruptible, eternal resurrection life coming from the sons of God bring life to the desert places that are in the Lord's people. Then the Spirit of God will "go into the sea." This means the nations Christ has left alive on the earth will be "delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God" (Romans 8:21).
The Glory of God will fill the earth as the "waters cover the sea," that is, as the waters of life from the sons of God cover the nations of saved peoples of the earth (the "sea") (Isaiah 11:9; Habakkuk 2:14).
This stupendous Glory will be revealed "in us" (Romans 8:18; John 17:22).
The expression "toward the east country" indicates that the Glory will be given at the beginning of the Day of the Lord, when Christ returns to earth.
Each new day begins with the rising of the sun in the east. The "new day" of the giving of the Spirit of God will come to the earth when the Lord Jesus appears.
Preliminary, sporadic outpourings of the Holy Spirit have taken place at various points in church history, such as in the recent awakening in Indonesia. The "harvest rain" will increase in intensity until a climax is reached in the fullness of the latter-rain revival. The latter-rain (harvest-rain; spring-rain) revival is for the purpose of bearing witness to the earth of the soon coming of the Kingdom of God. It is described in the eleventh chapter of the Book of Revelation and will take place just before the great tribulation.
To be continued.
