The Daily Word of Righteousness
Deliverance From Punishment or From Sin?, continued
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (John 5:40)
Now think just a minute. Receiving Jesus as Savior is never presented in the Bible, even one time, as a means of escaping Hell. Also, receiving Jesus as Savior is never presented in the Bible, even one time, as a means of making our home in Heaven.
By this we mean that Jesus is not a ticket to get out of Hell or a pass to get into Heaven. It is absolutely true that through Jesus we escape Hell, wrath, the outer darkness, destruction, corruption, but only as Jesus forgives us and becomes the Way of righteousness in which we walk. It is not true that by "making a decision for Christ" we are forever acceptable to God even though we do not become a new creature of righteous behavior.
If you doubt my words, check it out. If you find I am true, that Evangelical preaching is not scriptural, what are you going to do about it? That is the question. What are you going to do about it? Keep on preaching something that is not in the Scriptures? Do you think God will bless your efforts? Do you love the truth or your own comfort? This is the big question here.
I was talking to a young man last night. I told him that the Evangelical preaching of a state of grace, or a dispensation of grace, is unscriptural.
I said, "Jesus told us that if we do not bear fruit we will be cut out of the Vine, out of Christ." I asked him, "Where does grace fit in this picture?"
He answered, "I do not know."
Then I said, "The Apostle Paul told us if we continue in the sins of the flesh we will not inherit the Kingdom of God." I asked, "Where does grace fit in this picture?" He answered, "I do not know."
I said, "What are you going to do about it?"
He is a youth leader in a church. A girl he knows had just gathered together her albums and other worldly stuff to throw away. Her youth pastor said, "Why are you doing that?" Why don't you give them to me?"
Hasn't the youth pastor ever read about the bonfire described in the Book of Acts?
I felt terrible upon hearing this. Talk about offending the little ones who believe in Jesus!
This lawless-grace preaching is enough to make a person weep. Imagine a young girl trying to serve the Lord and having that kind of a leader?
May the good Lord deliver us.
I have said before and will say again that marvelous outpourings of repentance will not do lasting good except as they are followed up by the preaching of the absolute need for godly behavior on the part of the believers. The fact that there is such a revival at all reveals clearly that the Spirit of God is not buying the current teaching of grace.
We don't accept Jesus to escape Hell. We don't accept Jesus to go to Heaven.
Then why do we believe in Jesus? So we can gain eternal life by receiving His forgiveness and His help in becoming a new creation.
The Gospel is not designed for the person who is seeking to escape punishment but the individual who wants to find God and obtain His blessing. This is why the Gospel must always be preached in association with repentance.
In the Book of Acts we find that repentance was stressed. Why is this? Because what God wants is our transformation into righteous behavior. God has no intention of bringing worldly, lustful, self-willed people into Paradise and ruining it.
Somewhere, not from the Bible to be sure, we got the idea that going to Heaven will change us, or we will be changed magically when the Lord comes. The change when the Lord comes is for the body only and will reveal, not change, what we are in our inward nature.
To be continued.
