The Daily Word of Righteousness
Preparing the Army of God, #20
And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him. (Joshua 2:19)
There is an important principle of the Kingdom of God set forth in the preceding verse. It is the principle of "abiding in the house."
In order for us to be covered by the blood of Christ we must "abide in the house." We cannot accept Christ and then live in the world. We are required to abide in Christ. If we choose to live in the world we come out from under the protection of the blood.
Unnumbered multitudes of professing Christians are trusting in the blood of Christ while not abiding in Christ. They are not being careful to live and behave in the Presence of God. They believe they are under the protection of the blood of Christ but they are not.
It is when we walk in the light of God's Presence that the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin. We will be saved if we "abide in the house," if we endure to the end in faithfulness, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence all the way through to the conclusion of the battle—to victory in Christ.
If our life is one of being in Christ part of the time and then out of Christ part of the time, the Lord may come to us at one of those moments when we are not serving Him. Then He will appoint us our portion with the thieves and drunkards. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Let us "abide in the house" and encourage our relatives, friends, and all who will hear us, to receive Christ and live in Christ. If we do we will save ourselves and those who hear us. In the Day of Divine wrath we and they will be saved from destruction.
And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear. (Joshua 2:20)
There are times to talk about what God has done for us and then there are times to "tell no man." One of the truest signs of maturity in the Christian life is the ability to control the tongue.
Notice that Rahab and her family were saved provided Rahab did what she was commanded. So it is with our salvation.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; (Hebrews 3:14)
There is an "if" here just as there was with Rahab. Rahab was saved "if" she kept her part of the agreement. We have been sealed to the Day of Redemption that is to come with Christ. We will be saved in that Day provided we keep ourselves holy, look always to Jesus in every aspect of life, and do not partake of the spirit of the world.
