Christ has returned to the Father in order to prepare a place in God for each member of the elect. He has promised to come again and receive each saint to Himself, to His Person.

Because our destiny is to be joined with Christ forever, the steps that the Lord takes to prepare us for such closeness to Himself are many, varied, intensely demanding of us, and painful at times. The Lord deals, deals, deals with us night and day. And why not? He is inviting us into His Person!

Today, Christ is standing at the door of the personality of each Christian. He desires to enter us and dine with us, and we with Him.

If the spirit of Babylon (man-directed Christianity) is controlling us we will keep Christ outside and pursue our "Christian" activities.

If the Holy Spirit of God is controlling us we will open the door and Christ will enter eternal union with us. He will come in to us and receive us to Himself. We ourselves decide how far Christ may enter our personality.

It is interesting that the promise of coming in to us and dining with us is given to the one church concerning which the Lord had nothing good to say, the church in Laodicea. The church in Laodicea is the church of the "rights of people." We see the spirit of Laodicea today as the Gospel of the Kingdom of God has become the Divine plan for making human beings happy instead of the Divine plan for transforming people into new creations of righteous behavior.

It is interesting also that the greatest of all promises, that of sitting with Christ in His throne as He sits in His Father's throne, is given to this same church of the "rights of people." Where the greatest darkness is, there the brightest light is shining.

Will we open the door of our personality and permit Jesus to sit on the throne of heart that He and the Father may govern us without hindrance?

Will we dine on His body and blood that He may dine on our worship and obedience?

Will we turn away from this abominable fascination with our rights, our fun, and receive the King of Glory that He may wage war against our worldliness, our lusts, and our self-will?

Will we press into the rest of God until it no longer is we who are living but Christ who is living in us?

Will we obey the Word of Christ speaking in King David?
