The Daily Word of Righteousness
Dead Reckoning, continued
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15)
The professional Christian critics are looking at contemporary works of the Spirit of God (sometimes accompanied by immature actions on the part of those involved) with a magnifying glass while completely ignoring the moral destruction of the Evangelical churches through the preaching of lawless grace.
Some of the "answer men" are quick to criticize the doctrines of others while they themselves hold to the totally indefensible teaching of a "rapture" of the Church to Heaven. Would they not be wiser to refrain from criticizing others until they themselves stand on more biblical ground?
We Evangelicals of today have no previously determined position because we have not been taught to reckon ourselves dead.
We are not following a fixed course because the contemporary teaching of lawless graces teaches us there is no course, there is no way of righteousness, only a ticket to Heaven.
We cannot reach our destination without a previously determined position and a correct course, the course laid out by the Lord.
On top of all of this confusion we have the wrong destination. We are teaching that eternal residence in the spirit Paradise, in Heaven, is our goal, our destination. Yet there is no scriptural basis whatever for the notion that eternal residence in Heaven is our destination.
No previously determined position. No straight course to follow. No scriptural destination in mind. Is it any wonder that the nations of today have no moral light to follow?
The churches of today try to point people to the atonement for sin made by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. They point us to Christ by telling us about Christ, which is good and helpful. But God would have the churches point us to Christ by revealing Christ in themselves. This is more powerful and effective. The world is waiting to see Jesus in us. We are to be living epistles.
Throughout the centuries of the Christian Era the Christian churches have held to the fundamental truths of the Bible. But in many instances their behavior has been deplorable. Even today we see in Ireland the Catholics and Protestants murdering each other. Yet both churches hold to the fundamental truth of the blood atonement. And the Irish (bless them) certainly are not the only Christians who betray Christ by their actions.
The Bible teaches us that we Christians are to be the light of the world, not just by holding forth the fundamental truths of salvation but by revealing in ourselves the Life of Jesus Christ. Men must see our good works before they will glorify God.
The reason the churches reveal hatred, bitterness, strife, jealousy, envy, covetousness, dishonesty, treachery, lying, smugness, arrogance, immorality is they have no previously determined position, they have never reckoned themselves dead, and they don't know what their destination is.
The believers have not been instructed to take up their cross and follow Jesus.
They are not flying a straight course because of the false doctrine of lawless grace. They have thrown out the commandments of Christ and His Apostles on the basis of the deplorable concept of the "state of grace" or the "dispensation of grace."
To be continued.
