The Daily Word of Righteousness
Two Kinds of Faith, continued
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
After we ask we are to maintain an attitude of hope and expectancy, waiting for God's response. He immediately sets the machinery in motion that will answer our request in the best possible manner and at the best possible time. To lead the life of victorious faith we have to put our treasures in Heaven, our hopes beyond the grave. Sometimes we die in faith, not having received the promise, just like the heroes of faith described in the eleventh chapter of the Book of Hebrews. But we are absolutely convinced that our hopes will be realized. This is true scriptural faith.
It is during the interval of time between our request and its fulfillment that the character of the saint is formed. No godly character is formed in the practitioner of the modern "faith teaching" because he has never learned the patience that is such a necessary part of the Kingdom of God.
The Scripture cannot be changed. If we are abiding in Jesus, whatever we ask the Father in Jesus' name, God will give it to us.
And in that day [the day when Christ has been formed in us and is governing us] ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:23,24)
The Scripture cannot be broken, it shall materialize.
The so-called "faith" message is leading to the pride of Satan. Some of the preachers are stating that we are just like Jesus, that we are gods, that we can have every desire fulfilled, that we can be rich and successful in the present world, that through faith we can install the Kingdom of God on the earth now—before the Lord appears. This, of course, is the opposite of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
Notice, rather, the attitude we should be adopting.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery [a thing to be grasped] to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:5-8)
True Bible faith leads to loving union with Jesus and the Father. Soulish faith leads to the kingdom of Antichrist in which a fulfilled and all-powerful self rules the creation.
True Bible faith is the path to the Throne of God. Soulish faith is the path to the throne of Satan.
Our only protection from deception is the personal cross that has been given to us. When we carry it faithfully and patiently, following the Lord Jesus, we are guarded against deception. This is the meaning of the following verse:
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (Revelation 3:10)
Soulish faith has faith in "faith." True faith has faith in the Lord Jesus. It is the difference between the False Prophet and Christ. (from Two Kinds of Faith)
