The Daily Word of Righteousness
Killing the Witness, continued
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, (Romans 8:13—NIV) Does the above verse apply to the Christian? Yes, by all the accepted principles of biblical interpretation.
Why, then, is it not preached more often in America? I do not know.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:7,8—NIV)
Does the above verse apply to the Christian? Yes, by all the accepted principles of biblical interpretation.
Why, then, is it not preached more often in America? I do not know. It seems to me that it would be important for the believers to understand if they live according to their sensual nature they are going to reap destruction in the Day of Judgment.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; Idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21—NIV)
Does the above passage apply to the Christian? Yes, by all the accepted principles of biblical interpretation.
Why then is it not preached in America as though it were part of the inspired text? How could any reasonable student claim it is not addressed to Christians, given the context?
The Bible says if we as a Christian live according to our sensual nature, according to "Sodom," we will not inherit the Kingdom of God. This is as true as John 3:16. No amount of "grace" or mercy can possibly change the unalterable Word of the Living God through the Apostle Paul.
The churches of America are morally and spiritually destitute, in many instances, because we are not preaching and teaching the whole Word of God.
Were the churches of the first century in the same condition? Yes.
For I am afraid when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder. I am afraid when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. (II Corinthians 12:20,21—NIV)
Did Paul imply that such behavior did not matter because they were "saved by grace"?
I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others, (II Corinthians 13:2—NIV)
Paul turned over at least one member of the Corinthian church to Satan that his flesh might be destroyed and he himself saved as a naked spirit in the Day of the Lord.
