The Daily Word of Righteousness
The Lord Is There, continued
One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. (Revelation 21:9,10—NIV)
It seems pretty clear to me that the new Jerusalem is "the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
Now there may be some who cling to the notion that Jesus Christ has two brides, a Gentile bride and a Jewish bride, or that God is married to the Jews and Christ is married to the Gentiles. Let us remember that Paul stressed that the Seed of Abraham is singular. Well then, which is the one Seed of Abraham, the bride of God or the bride of Christ? Can you see how ridiculous, how totally unscriptural, this Dispensational business is?
How could devout believers ever accept such an outrageous distortion of the Scriptures?
The Christian Church is the Bride of the Lamb and the new Jerusalem. The names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb are in the foundations of the wall of the new Jerusalem. Are the Apostles of the Lamb separate from the Gentile Christian Church in Heaven?
This is nonsense, so let's leave it and proceed to more edifying thoughts.
I am sorry I bothered you with it.
For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined. (Isaiah 60:12—NIV)
We see in the above verse that the world will be governed from Jerusalem.
Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3—NIV)
There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. (Revelation 22:5—NIV)
You've heard the expression "rule with Jesus"? Well, the above is it.
The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 60:14—NIV)
What have we Christians to do with Zion? Isn't Zion something to do with the Jews?
Think about the following:
But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, To the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, (Hebrews 12:22,23—NIV)
If the holy city, the new Jerusalem, comes down out of Heaven from God, and if it is the Church of the Firstborn, and if we Gentiles have come to it, then it sounds a lot like Isaiah and Revelation are speaking of the same Mount Zion—the Christian Church, the Bride of the Lamb.
I don't see any way around it!
To be continued.
