The Daily Word of Righteousness
The Reality of Crucifixion and Resurrection With Christ, continued
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; (Hebrews 12:15)
Over the years the bitterness grew, carefully nursed by you and Satan—always the accuser. The blackness cultivated in your soul and spirit grew to include revenge, hatred, murder.
As you served the Lord you kept trying to shove the hatred and anger into the background, hoping it would go away somehow or you would outgrow it. But spiritual darkness of this kind does not just go away. It has to be dealt with directly.
You are walking in unforgiveness. This means there is sin in your personality.
This sort of problem is dealt with a great deal today but it usually is in terms of psychological healing for the purpose of giving you a more healthy personality. There seems to be a great need in America today for psychological healing and I have nothing to say against it.
But the Bible does not deal with psychological healing, or hangups, or lack of fulfillment, but with sin—sin that must be judged, forgiven, and put to death.
You are to come to the Lord and confess your unforgiveness, your bitterness, your hatred, your desire for revenge, as sin. You are to name it as sin, to judge it as belonging in the Lake of Fire.
This will not be easy because you have "chewed on this bone" for a number of years and there is deep-seated hatred. You truly were unjustly treated, cruelly used, and you must tell the Lord this so you can clear it out of your subconscious. Nothing is gained by minimizing the depth of the injustice. Tell the Lord about it plainly.
Now you need the Virtue that is in the blood of Jesus to touch the darkness that is in you. You need to keep at it in prayer until you can say, "I forgive you," and name the person. You need Divine help and it will come if you don't quit.
When you confess your sins God is faithful and just to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
It shall happen. Christ has this kind of power. He is able to overcome Satan's evil with Divine good.
This is an eternal judgment against the spirit of bitterness and hatred that got such a grip on you. God will forgive you and cleanse you. He will cast the sin behind His back. It will be removed from the file cabinet.
You will never be judged for that sin again unless you return to it as a dog to its vomit.
But if you do not take the darkness to God, if you do not confess it and repent of it, if you do not request the forgiveness and the cleansing, then you will be judged at a later time. You will not be ready, Christian or not, to receive a redeemed body when the Lord appears.
This is how the Christian of today is to deal with the sin in his or her personality that the Holy Spirit points out. You are to confess your sin and repent of it.
To be continued.
