We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. (II Peter 2:19)
Have you ever heard someone preach about the Morning Star? I never have. It is possible that in the days to come we will hear more about the Morning Star. The Morning Star is the Lord Jesus Christ. Maybe we did not need to know about the Morning Star until now. The worldwide Holocaust is approaching, and the Pentecost experience is not powerful enough to enable us and our loved ones to survive spiritually and stand before the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Peter did not have a New Testament. By the “prophetic message” I believe he was referring to the Voice he heard while on the Mount of Transfiguration, plus the writings of the Hebrew Prophets. Peter said we should pay attention to these until the Morning Star rises in our heart. Great. But what in the world is the Morning Star?
May its morning stars become dark; may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn, (Job 3:9)
Job was so miserable he was wishing that there had been no light when he was born.
The morning star is associated with the first rays of dawn. It is thought by some to be the planet Venus. It appears in the east just before sunrise. That tells us a lot. We can expect the bright Star, the Lord Jesus Christ, to become prominent just before the coming of the Day of the Lord. To put it simply, just before the Lord Jesus returns in His worldwide appearing, He will rise in the heart of the victorious saints.
While the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? (Job 38:7)
Who were the “Morning Stars”? I do not know. Do you?
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! (Isaiah 14:12)
Isaiah chapter 14 is well worth thinking about. It blends comments about the King of Babylon with comments about Satan. This shows us how Satan is involved in the political leaders. The women who were championing the cause of abortion in Texas were singing about Satan. This was pointed out to one of the political leaders of the United States, who also supports abortion. This did not seem to bother him. So perhaps he and other political leaders have more traffic with the occult than we know at this time.
In any case, this chapter points out that political leaders sit on thrones when they arrive in Hell. If I were involved in politics, I would give this some thought. Would you?
We can see on the television at this time how desperately the candidates for president want to be elected. They lie and use bad language in their passion to govern. They would rather rule in Hell than serve in Heaven, as someone exclaimed.
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16)
We of today seem to teach that if we “accept Christ” once, from that point forward the Fullness of Christ is dwelling in us and Christ is our Life. I do not believe this is true. The truth is, accepting by faith the atonement made on the cross is but the beginning of the work of redemption that will not end until we are filled with all the fullness of God, and are serving as a chariot of God.
The good news is that from now on, we can expect to have a greater Fullness of Christ in us, that will climax with His appearing. A word of caution might be added: If we as a Christian are so involved in the world that we are not aware of Christ being formed in us, then I doubt seriously that we will be gathered to Him when He appears. If this is true of us, we had better get busy, hadn’t we?
The Church in Thyatira
To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations — He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pattery — just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star. (Revelation 2:26-28)
The Apostle Peter stated that the Morning Star rises in our heart. This means that the Lord Jesus Christ enters us, perhaps in a greater way than we have known to this point. Then, when we are governing the nations, it is not we who are ruling, it is the Lord Jesus. But candidates for this high honor must today be living in victory over sin and self-will, and perform Jesus’ complete will to the end of their lives.
Pentecostal people often view the baptism with the Holy Spirit as being the final work of redemption. The next step is to die and go to Heaven. However, this is not true. We now are entering a third work of redemption that will lead to the Fullness of God. Every Christian is invited to set aside all distractions and seek the Lord Jesus earnestly.
The job of the Spirit is to prepare us for the new visitation.
The Gentile Holocaust is drawing nearer. The Pentecostal experience is not sufficient to enable us and our loved ones to stand spiritually throughout the Holocaust that is on the horizon. We must have more of Christ if we are to stand before Christ and bring others with us. That “more of Christ” is the Morning Star rising in our heart.
The Fullness of God
And to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:19)
Notice how the Apostle Paul exhorts the Christian people at Ephesus:
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
Does the passage above resemble the way “getting saved” is preached today. It doesn’t to me!
I read somewhere recently that our current conception of how to get saved was concocted by Bible teachers, based on the premise that salvation is a sovereign work of God, and all we are to do is accept it. Then no matter how we behave after we “accept Christ,” the safety of our entrance into all the joys of Heaven when we die cannot possibly be jeopardized. It is currently taught that God forever sees us in Christ regardless of our behavior, and that is the end of the matter.
This is not a scriptural formula for salvation. It is no wonder the moral testimony of the churches of our day is so weak.
Now, think about the passage above.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”
After we receive forgiveness through faith in the blood of the cross, God will give us His Holy Spirit if we ask for it. It is scriptural that we speak in tongues at this time. The Spirit of God enters us for the purpose of strengthening us so we are capable of receiving the Father and the Son, until we are filled with all the Fullness of God. We will need this Fullness if we are to stand and help others to stand throughout the Holocaust that is on the way. The baptism with the Spirit is not sufficient for that which is on the horizon.
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
This does not mean that we just believe Christ dwells in our heart. It signifies that we persevere in faith each day, inviting Christ continually in all we think, say, and do, until we can say, with Paul, “It no longer is I who am living but Christ who is living in me”.
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love.”
Love is the sign of Christian maturity. By “love” I mean that we are more concerned with the welfare of others than with our own.
“May have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ”
Does this understanding of the love of Christ come to us when we first receive Christ? Or is it the fruit of many years of cross-carrying obedience to the Lord Jesus? Can you see how shallow and unscriptural our current teaching, that Christ is our “ticket” to Heaven, actually is?
And I will say one thing more, and every true Christian will agree with this: when you are practicing known sin, God does not see the righteousness of Christ in you. You must ask Christ to help you put aside that sin, or you are facing Divine judgment.
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. (Hebrews 10:26,27)“And to know this love that surpasses knowledge.”
The love and mercy of Christ is so great as to be indescribable. It continually is alluded to in American Gospel preaching. But I want to go on record as stating that His wrath, which is the wrath of God, is equally great, but that is not often preached.
I was thinking last night of Ze’ev Jabotinsky. He spent much time in Europe warning the Jews that great persecution was on the way, exhorting them to leave Europe and go to another country. But many did not listen, because Germany and other European countries were their home. Millions were tortured and died in the Holocaust.
There is another Holocaust on the horizon because of our sinning. We are not adhering to the New Testament commands. We love pleasure more than we love God. In the case of the Jews, the unimaginable took place. In the future in America, the unimaginable is going to take place.
I tell everyone who will listen to me to turn to the Lord Jesus today. He has a solution for those who will listen and obey. But those who ignore the warning, as so many ignored Jabotinsky, will with their children see much blood spilled before God is finished avenging Himself. This is because of the manner in which the Jews were treated in Europe, and in which America and other Christian nations are ignoring Christ in our time, after all He has done for us.
Jeremiah is a good book to meditate in. We need to turn to God.
“That you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
What the Apostle Paul wrote to the saints in Ephesus does not sound much like “accept Christ and you will go to Heaven,” does it? But Paul’s exhortation is the true Gospel of the Kingdom, while much of the preaching of today is merely man-pleasing.
The Fullness of God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Coming of Christ
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Matthew 11:27)
I would like to turn now to what our Lord said about the plan He has for us; about how the Morning Star, which is Himself, will rise in our heart.
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. you On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:15-23)
“If you love me, keep my commands.”
The horrific theologic error of our day in America is that belief in Christ takes the place of obeying what Christ and His Apostles commanded. Some have termed it “easy believism.”
The truth is, the “belief” that is prevalent is not what Christ meant when He said, “believe in Me.” Rather, it is an acknowledgment of the facts concerning Christ, such as He is our Lord and Savior. But believing that Christ is our Lord and Savior will not save anyone. The demons understand that Christ is the Son of God, the Lord, and the Savior. But they draw the line at obeying Him.
If we love Him, we will obey the commandments of Christ and His Apostles. Faith and belief are not a substitute for obedience, and will not save anyone apart from obedience. This is an error worthy of Satan’s own wisdom.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”
Notice here the relationship between Christ and the Father. I think that the man-made doctrine of the “Trinity” confuses this relationship.
The goal of our redemption is to be made in the image of God. The goal of our being made in the image of God is that God might have a house, a home, a place of rest, and a location of His Throne among His creatures.
The manner in which “grace” is preached today prevents man from being made in God’s image. Righteousness, holiness, and obedience to God are imputed to man, meaning he does not possess them in his personality. Consequently God does not have in untransformed man a house, a home, a place of rest, or a location of His Throne among His creatures. The Father has all of these objectives in the Lord Jesus Christ, but not in people who are using grace as a substitute for obedience.
When we receive Christ as an atonement for our sins, and are baptized in water, we are choosing with our mind to turn aside from the world and to enter the resurrection Life of the Lord Jesus. When we pray for and receive the Spirit of God, we receive the strength and wisdom to take steps toward preparing a way for God to make His house, home, rest, and Throne in us. Now we are to continue obeying Christ and cooperating with the Spirit of God until we are filled with all the Fullness of God, and God’s desires and needs are satisfied.
“The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.”
The world knows nothing of the Spirit of Truth. It has been blinded by Satan. Only through the Spirit of God do we perceive the world correctly. The wisdom of the Holy Spirit is an abomination to the carnal mind.
“But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
If we genuinely have received the Lord Jesus Christ as the atonement for our sins, the Spirit of God is in us. Now, as we press forward in Christ, we are to pray for an increase of the Spirit of God to help us overcome sin, and for gifts of the Spirit to build us up in Christ and to strengthen our fellow believers.
“I will not leave you as orphans.”
I believe that multitudes of Christian people live as “orphans.” They do not believe Christ will speak to us today. They are using their Bibles as a substitute for fellowship with the living Jesus.
It is of the greatest importance that we meditate in the Scriptures each day. But this is no substitute for speaking to Him and listening to Him at all times. Conversing with the Lord Jesus will become of increasing importance as spiritual darkness increases in the world and in our own country.
“I will come to you.”
This is not the worldwide return of the Lord. It is the rising of the Morning Star in us so we can prepare ourselves for the worldwide coming. The morning star, possibly the planet Venus, rises in the sky just prior to daybreak. So it is true that the Lord Jesus Christ, the bright and Morning Star, will rise in our heart announcing the worldwide coming of the Lord.
“Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.”
We do not see the Lord literally and physically, but become increasingly aware of His Presence—particularly as we keep speaking to Him, calling upon Him for guidance and energy to accomplish our daily duties. Thus He is “visible” to us, but the world continues in the blindness of the flesh.
“Because I live, you also will live.”
I think I am experiencing the fulfillment of this promise. Little by little I find that I am depending more on the wisdom and strength of Jesus to help me through the day. I am ninety years of age. As I grow older, my need for Jesus to help me in my daily tasks increases, such as in writing this essay. I am beginning to learn what the Apostle Paul meant when he exclaimed, “It is not I who am living but Christ who is living in me.” It is the rising of the Morning Star in us who accomplishes the transition from our self-life to the resurrection Life of the Lord Jesus. This transition is the central feature of the Christian redemption.
“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”
“On that day” is the day the Lord alone is exalted in our life.
The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. (Isaiah 2:17)
In that day you will say:“I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. (Isaiah 12:1)
I believe that Bible scholars, in their determination to ensure that all the Divine credits assigned to our Lord Jesus are kept safe with Him, have invented the doctrine of the Trinity. Their godly intention is appreciated. However, there is death in the pot, so to speak. The Persons of the Godhead sometimes are blurred—not as clearly wrought as might be desired.
The best part of our Christian life is fellowship with the Father and the Son. This is eternal life.
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. (I John 1:3)
I have been criticized on the Internet for not waving the banner of the “Trinity.” I most certainly do believe in the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are my Reality—more real, actually, than the people around me. I have fellowship with the Father. I have fellowship with Jesus. And I have warm fellowship with the Holy Spirit. But these, though dwelling in the most intense union possible, a union into which we are being drawn as we press forward in Christ, are not the same person. We have fellowship with the Father AND with the Son, not with the Father who is the Son.
I believe the Bible scholars need to think again about the concept that the three members of the Godhead are one Person. This point of view makes several passages of the Scripture illogical, to say the least.
As the Lord alone becomes exalted in our life, we more clearly recognize that Christ is in His Father, we are in Christ, and He is in us.
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.”
This one sentence reveals that the current manner in which the term “grace” is employed is not God’s intention. It is the person who keeps the commands of Christ and His Apostles, who is the one who loves the Lord Jesus. How can we claim we believe in Christ and love Him when we do not keep His commands but claim to be “saved by grace”? Is this not nonsense?
“The one who loves me will be loved by my Father.”
Again we see clearly that the Father and the Son are different People. The Father sent the Son into the world to redeem people and to have fellowship with them. When we show our love for Christ by being strictly obedient to Him, the Father is justified and gratified, and loves the human being who has set his heart on Jesus.
“And I too will love him and show myself to him.”
If the Lord Jesus and the Father were the same Person, the sentence above would be illogical.
As I said, it is not that Jesus comes to us physically and we see Him with our physical eyes. Rather it is the rising of the Morning Star in our personality that causes us to “see” Him. He becomes more real to us each day, thus helping us prepare for His worldwide appearing.
As I look at the news on the television, I see the utter confusion the nations are in. It is not a hopeful picture. But when I look at Jesus, He is assuring me that He is in perfect control of the minutest detail, and that my loved ones and I are as safe as we would be were we in Heaven already.
The Christian prophets of today are warning us that worldwide famine is coming. But God was able to feed millions of people for forty years in the wilderness. He certainly can do the same today. And for those who enjoy bread and fish, I think Jesus knows how to provide these for us.
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
It appears to me that Jesus did not answer Judas’ question directly. The answer to the question, which is that the disciples of Jesus are members of the Royal Priesthood, not part of the world, probably would not have been comprehensible to Judas.
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.”
Again the Lord Jesus emphasizes the importance of obedience to His will. The Bible tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice, that is, than religious works of any sort.
“My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
Now we have come to the reason for the Morning Star, and for everything else in our redemption.
The Holy Spirit is in us, preparing the way for the Father and the Son. As we continue to obey the Lord Jesus strictly, the remainder of the Godhead enters us. We now are filled with the Fullness of God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
This is why God is redeeming us. It is to be a house, home, resting place, and location for His Throne. It is to be a chariot in which God can ride and be with His creatures wherever they may be. Our example is the Lord Jesus Christ, who Himself is the Chariot of God. This is why God is making us in His image.
The solid gold lid of reconciliation with its covering cherubim (Mercy Seat) was termed the “Chariot.” God used to fly on the cherubim. But now God is creating man for that purpose. Isn’t that a marvelous thought?
God has left the Law and has come to Mount Zion, His called-out Royal Priesthood, that He might perfect His thousands upon multiplied thousands of chariots. God’s chariots will bring His Presence, will, and blessing to all His creatures throughout eternity.
The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary. (Psalms 68:17)
I am excited at the thought of traveling with the Godhead wherever they choose to go.
The key to the privilege of being a chariot of God is our willingness to experience an exchanged life. There is little God can do with us when we are clinging to our old nature, our self-will. It is when we welcome the substitution of the resurrection Life of the Lord Jesus in place of our original nature that we become free—able to go wherever God wishes to go.
The riches found in the Morning Star are primarily for God’s desire to have a home, a resting place. God cannot find these in our fallen nature. But in the resurrection Life of His Son, God has His home and resting place.
Let us not be so foolish as to cling to our self-will when God is offering us the splendor of His majesty.
I Stand at the Door and Knock
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)
This is true today. Christ is looking for those who will turn from their own ways and welcome Him into the deepest parts of their personalities. We do not invite Christ into ourselves only one time, but continually. We always are to be asking Jesus about all that we do, seeking His guidance. Christ wants to eat with you, and for you to eat with Him. We dine on His body and blood, that is, on His Life. He dines on our obedience and worship.
This dining is marriage to the Lamb. It is the exchanged Life. It is our response to the growth of the Morning Star in us.
The Throne of God
To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. (Revelation 3:21)
No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. (Revelation 22:3)
It is no coincidence that Revelation 3:21 follows Revelation 3:20. As you keep opening the door to Christ, bringing Him into all that you are and do, He takes over your life. Thus we might say that the Father and Christ are joint-rulers, and that Christ and you are joint-rulers.
Christ thinks, speaks, and acts in agreement with His Father’s will. We are to think, speak, and act in agreement with Christ’s will.
The “city” is the glorified Christian Church. God’s Throne and the Throne of the Lamb have moved from Heaven to reside in the glorified Christian Church. Those among us who overcome (through Christ) all that comes against us as we do God’s will, shall sit with Christ on the highest, most authoritative throne, in the universe.
But you know, the fact that we are with Christ on His Throne will not be an occasion for boasting or arrogance. It is the Morning Star, Christ in us, who is governing. We are living by Life. And that Life by Nature is a Lamb. It is meek and gentle. He who is greatest in the Kingdom shall be the servant of all. The “Lion of Judah” is not mentioned in the last two chapters of the Book of Revelation. For all of His unlimited power and majesty, God has the heart of a child. Children recognize this and come to the Lord cheerfully and gladly. After we grow up, we must grow down, if we are to be a companion of God and Christ.
The Festival of Tabernacles
The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Lord’s Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days.’” (Leviticus 23:33,34)
The Festival of Tabernacles is the last of the seven festivals of the Lord. It typifies the goal of our redemption—that we might be the dwelling place of God. The fifth and sixth festivals, which are operating now in the spirit realm along with the first four festivals, prepare us for the Festival of Tabernacles, provided that we cooperate with the Spirit of God.
The fifth festival, the Blowing of Trumpets, is fulfilled spiritually as the Lord Jesus comes and declares war against His enemies that are dwelling us: the sexual lusts, the murder, the hatred, the covetousness, and so forth. When the Spirit points out one of these behaviors to us, we are to confess that we are guilty, and then ask Jesus, the Commander-in-Chief, to help us drive out that particular spirit. He will do that, and we will go free. It is an eternal judgment against that spirit.
As we are delivered from these spirits that dwell in our flesh, and from sins of our spirit and our self-will, we enter the spiritual fulfillment of the sixth festival, the Day of Atonement (Day of Reconciliation to God). The spiritual fulfillment of the Day of Atonement in us makes possible the coming of the Father and the Son to dwell in us, to make us Their home, Their resting place, and Their chariot. We must be reconciled to God before we can sit with them on Their Throne.
Up to this point in the Divine redemption, we have been protected from judgment by the Passover blood. Also, righteousness and holiness have been ascribed to us as we have kept pressing forward in Christ. In the last two festivals, sin and self-will are driven from us by the Spirit of God. We no longer are righteous and holy by imputation. We are actually righteous and holy. We are in the image of God. This must happen if we are to govern the new world of righteousness.
The Rest of God
Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. (Hebrews 4:1)
I don’t believe I ever have heard anyone preach or teach about the rest of God. Yet, entering the rest of God is the goal of redemption presented in the Book of Hebrews. On the seventh day God rested. He rested because He had finished His works in prophetic vision through to the coming down to the new earth of the new Jerusalem. You and I and our entire lives were created in God’s mind on the sixth day. Everything concerning us was finished at that time. Then God rested.
In the light of this, what are we to do? We are to cease from our own works and seek the mind of God at every moment, that we might be thinking, speaking, and acting according to what God planned for us on the sixth day.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:15,16)
“All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Before we can “let go and let God have his wonderful way,” we must believe that Psalm 139 is true. We must have faith that our life was planned from the beginning; and if we do not find out God’s will for us in all circumstances, we very well may be wasting our time and fretting when matters do not proceed as we wished they would. Who among us dares to cease from his own works and present his body a living sacrifice, that God’s perfect, complete will may be performed, without being overly concerned about what it may mean to him and his plans and hopes?
I made that decision long ago. I am glad I did. The result is, my life has been quite different from what it would have been had I attempted to force my own way. When I was a boy, I hated school and church. Then I spent 25 years as an educator in schools and the last forty years as a pastor of a church. The parents of my students were very pleased with my work with their children. How I have done as a pastor remains to be seen. While I have been pastoring, I have been writing. You can judge from the present essay whether or not God has given me insight that would warrant the writing of several hundred booklets and essays.
I now am ninety years old. Soon, I hope, I will find out whether Christ has been pleased with me. I believe He has been, because to the best of my knowledge I have obeyed Him at every turn.
Eternity is a long time, and I hope, as I said before, to be one of God’s chariots. For God to find rest in me, I know I must find rest in His will. This I am endeavoring to do.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:28,29)
